Door of Hope 4 Teens is a service that provides support, encouragement and solutions for teens ages 12-21 who struggle with self-injury also known as cutting. Teens can come to monthly support groups being held in NY, PA and SC. Another option we offer is FREE daily phone and email support lines. Our services provide advice, and solutions for those that struggle with self-injury and cant seem to stop. ALL phone call are kept private. We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ can help these girls move beyond their emotional pain and to a place of joy and freedom, to be who God calls them to be.
Through personal attention, prayer and group dynamics, teens will being to take steps towards recovery. Situations are addressed on two levels. One is dealing with core issues, getting to the root cause of why cutting is used to cope with their emotions. Having the teen take a good look at themselves and we will listen to their perspective on what happening and why the have decided to self-injure. SELF-INJURY STARS WITH NEGATIVE THINKING SO A LARGE PART OF the work that Door of Hope does is teaching the teen how to renew their minds, using Biblical teachings and affirmations. The other is treating the whole person and helping them to discover who they are in Christ and begin to look at their lives with a positive outlook and to pursue the right goals that will lead them into a productive lifestyle.
Debra Cornacchia, Founder of Door of Hope 4 Teens is pursuing a degree from LIght University in Biblical Counseling. She worked Nursery school teacher for over 10 years at a Christian School She has a passion for teens to be set free from self-injury. As a teen Debra self-injured and had no where to turn for guidance nor encouragement. Now as an adult she is an overcomer and has moved beyond self harm. Her Faith in Christ and active role in her Church, where she led Womens Bible Studies, and Youth programs has given her the desire to give back all that she has gained and has now birthed Door of Hope 4 Teens. This organization is now in the process of expanding and Debra has a dream that one day every state will have a group for teens. The team at Door of Hope includes Psychologists, Pastoral Support and a host of volunteers who want to see teens free from self-injury
One of Door of Hope 4 Teens goals is to bring awareness to self harm so those that are engaged in this destructive behavior can be heard, loved and supported by beginning the process of emotional healing. Much secrecy, shame and guilt are tied up into self-injury. It takes courage and a willingness to change to step out and admit you struggle with self-injury. We support in a loving way, one that fosters developing a high self-esteem and an attitude of victory and good morals.
