Services: Horse Power, by Equine Learning Center, Inc, provides classes utilizing Equine Facilitated or Assisted Learning with the Character Education Model to increase and improve Emotional Intelligence. Experiential, hands-on ground activities with horses provide an opportunity for practicing new behaviors with peers ages 12-18. Horse Power does not teach riding or horsemanship. In fact, no prior horse experience is needed to benefit from Equine Facilitated or Assisted Learning.
Kids with low Emotional Intelligence (Kids at Hope) have low Character skills. They are at risk for feeling alienated, hostile and dissatisfied with school. They view their teachers as unfair, uncaring and overly demanding. Kids at Hope are more likely to take risks and put themselves in danger. They may develop depression and anxiety when they believe rewards and punishments are controlled by others.
Kids at Hope either Externalize or Internalize their feelings. Kids who Internalize cope by the tendency to complain more than normal of physical body complaints. They have tendencies to misperceive social relationships and have few friendships.

Kids who Externalize feel tension in personal relationships and a feeling of exclusion from social activities. They tend to have significant problems in a lack positive of regard toward parents and believe a lack of esteem from them. They tend to be labeled 'Hyperactive or Inattentive' in school. They are often diagnosed as "ADHD", "Bipolar" or "Emotionally Disabled". Kids at Hope have a tendency to act in a hostile manner, either verbal or physical that is threatening to others.

Kids at Hope left unskilled, tend to engage in antisocial and rule breaking behavior including destroying property.

Kids who either externalize or internalize their feelings, have poor self regard and tend to be highly self critical. They don't believe they can rely on their own ability to solve problems and become self reliant.

Message to Parents: Horse Power, by Equine Learning Center, Inc., believes *“all kids are capable of success, no exceptions“. When kids feel good about themselves, they're open to learning.

So why do we use horses?
Horses live in the 'here and now'. As large prey animals, they have a unique and impressive intuition interpreting human behavior that they 'mirror' through their body language. Equine feedback is immediate and genuine. Thoughts and feelings never before experienced are surfaced for awareness, acceptance and an opportunity for change.

Learning Objectives of Character Education with Horses
* Increasing academic achievement
* Learning school to work life skills
* Increasing attendance
* Increasing positive behavior
* Decreasing suspensions and expulsions
* Increasing coping skills that will promote positive changes in the students attitude and help them work through the challenges in their lives
* Increase self-awareness and create a positive personal image
* To understand personal accountability

EQ + IQ = a well adjusted and successful child

EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and IQ, (Intelligence Quotient) create balance between emotional and cognitive wellbeing. A child with average intelligence may not have average emotional intelligence. Parents struggle to understand how 'such a smart boy or girl' can make so many bad choices. Intelligence alone does not prepare kids for life challenges.

Equine facilitated learning provides an experiential equine experience for teens to develop life skills such as self esteem and character building.

My child is in the bad habit of not listening to me and she has several problems that are very difficult to improve at home. I think she needs an environment where she can improve these problems in living the atmosphere. You school is doing well in this field so I am very hopeful to your school. Please provide me proper suggestions for improving my child habits.
