The Sojourns Abroad program is designed for culturally curious young adults age of 18 and older who want a very special international gap year adventure or break from the college routine. Instead of being curriculum centerd Siena Sojourn is learner centered. It provides a basic structure in which participants assume individualized special projects and pirsue serious personal interests. The program has been carefully organized to combine camaderie and significant individual experiences and each program offers structured activities and sufficient free time to enjoy the sidtinctive ambiance of the host city.
The programs offered by the Sojourns are language study, homestay accommodation, art & art history, social service, midweek excursions, weekend travel, outdoor adventures, cultural enrichment. They make the students engaging informal seminars and group discussions. The program provides frequent outings to major cultural venues, museums, concerts and theaters. They also provide opportunities for art and music instruction, sports, athletic facilities and health clubs.
The other activities like cooking classes, wine and cheese tasting, journal writing and a digital photography workshop, an Italian film series are also offered in the program.
They combine sober academic discipline with hands-on, cross cultural experience and elevate the mix to a spiritual plane. The designed programs such as study abroad are the orientation toward global citizenship. This global orientation acknowledges very real sojourn that participants begin during their authentic experience abroad.
