True North Wilderness Program is a therapeutic intervention for young boys and girls in the age group of 14 to 17 years who are facing ODD, low self-esteem, ADHD, destructive behavior, problems in school, drugs and alcohol abuse, negative peer pressure influence etc. A student in True North is allowed to stay for a minimum length of 28 days and they are not allowed to stay longer than eight weeks. They design their programs in such a way so that students decide their own goals and work together with each other and with their teacher’s help to achieve those goals. It makes them more responsible, confident, and mature enough to make healthy and positive relationships.
Family plays a crucial role in recovery process of their struggling teen. There are special family programs designed with the aim to give them professional guidance and support throughout their child’s stay at True North. Seminars and workshops for families are arranged by the staff and faculty members and weekly phone and email conferences are conducted. Students at True North receive individual, group, and family therapy. Group communication helps them to develop qualities of leadership, mentoring, and teamwork. They also complete a set of courses that includes school assignment for earned credit hours and personal portfolio work; recognize achievements and skills acquired as well as work for short and long term goals. The creative and challenging environment at True North help struggling teens to face the challenges of life boldly and grow physically, academically, emotionally, and socially. Their core subjects of their curriculum include geology, ecology, astronomy, biology, physical science etc.
