Valleyhead, Inc., founded in 1969, is a residential school for girls and young women in the age group of 12 to 22 years facing drugs and alcohol abuse, substance abuse, sexual abuse, mood disorder, and traumatic problems. It is located in the Berkshire Hills of Lenox, Massachusetts. Their aim is to support students and develop skills, attitude, and behavior with the help of effective learning via therapeutic approach. Their programs are designed in such a way that students develop interpersonal relationship and this will provide a corrective emotional experience for the students to discover them and explore their strengths.
It offers individual treatment programs to the struggling teen girls. These programs include:
- Clinical Program
- Residential Program
- Education Program
- Medical Program
- Intensive Care Program
- Basic Care Program
Their programs include a mixture of academic, vocational, and creative arts and the students are divided on the basis of their age and emotional needs. Girls at Valleyhead participate in team sports, community-based youth programs, off campus jobs, family visits, and cultural events. Family plays a major role in treatment of their wild daughters. Students receive individual as well as group therapy whereas family therapy is given to families. Their intensive care program requires disturbed teens to be under constant supervision by the teachers. If a positive change occurs in the struggling teen, they are then shifted to the basic care program.
