Hello, my son has this tendency of stealing. First, he started doing it at home. He used to take money from my wife’s and my wallet. It took us a lot of time to realize it but not we are sure of it. We thought that speaking about won’t be good for our relationship so we kept silent. After, we received complaints from school that our son steals pens and stationary from classmates. We explained him that it is not good and that he should tell us his needs. Few days back, he got caught stealing in a sweet shop. Now the limits are over. I and my wife are very hurt and angry. We do not know how to deal with him. It is not that we can not afford buying him what he wants. Could you please guide us? Our son steals and is on top of that a bad student.

Hi, I think you should have started speaking to him about since right the beginning, instead of letting it go. Now things have gone quite far and your son has developed this habit of stealing. He does not steal because he needs something; he steals because maybe he seeks your attention for example. The root of it lies somewhere. And I think only a got therapist will be able to help you now. Your teen needs your help. Saying that he is a troubled teen right now will be too soon. But he has some symptoms of troubled teens.
