Hi, my daughter tried to run away and I feel scared now. My daughter and I had a huge fight few days back. She wanted to go to a concert late at night. She is still a teen and I feel really scared when she goes out at night. She is still so innocent that I just can not let her do what she feels like. Two days after the fight, she did not come back home after school. Alarmed, I called the police and they found her. This is happening for the second time. What should I do?

Your daughter must be thinking that running away is the only way to fight back with you. It is a kind of revenge or maybe she tries to show that she is not inferior to you. You can not be behind her all the time so the best thing would be to find a permanent solution. For this, you should contact a therapist and maybe a school for troubled teen. Running away is a symptom of troubled teens.

Our daughter has run away out of frustration from getting to do what she wants to do. Giving in is not the answer. Don't doubt yourself. A therapist could help. She doesn't need to get in routine of running instead of weathering the storm.
