Hi my name is Jeff, my son who is studying 9th class used to secure good marks in all his exams, but I don’t the reason behind his recent performance. He is not playing with his friends and spends most of the time alone in his room and I have observed, he is not that confidence as he is. I observed he is not comfortable with his concentration levels and I have a small feeling that he might do any silly mistake, please help me to find a good answer?

You have to know the reason behind his recent performance. Without know the reason, how you can take action. You have to talk to his class teacher or his friend. May be they can give you some solution. You have to encourage your teen to participate in extra activities other than studies. You can take help from educational counselor. They will suggest you that how you have to deal your teen.

Your teen has same problem as my daughter was facing. I had sent her in the therapeutic boarding school. The atmosphere at boarding school is really challengeable. They provide opportunity to students to participate in challenging task. They motivate them and improve their self-confidence.

Hi! Jeff. Your son is facing a problem of lack of concentration and confidence. By looking at your problem, I can say that may be your child is in depression. I would suggest you to talk to your child about this. Ask him or his friends that if there is any kinda school bullying, peer pressure etc. that are disturbing him. Appreciate his work and encourage him to do things.

Jeff your problem is a real disturbing one! I can understand the disturbing situation you are going through. I would advice you to know about your child’s feelings, emotions and needs by talking to him or his friends about this. He may come out with his feelings. Take consult a counselor or an expert to help you finding a good boarding school, residential treatment center or a wilderness program for him.

This type of sudden loss of interest in studies may be an outcome of some other problem he might be facing in school. Sometimes teens that experience problems such as school bullying, sexual abuse etc. in school shows such type of behavior. You must talk to his school teachers and friend to find out the exact reason of this. You can also take help of a good counselor.

If he is degrading in studies then he might be facing problems in traditional academic style. There are many good boarding schools that provide specialized education to such type of teens. You may send him to one such school. I believe that he will certainly improve there.
