Hello my name is John. I am seventeen years old. I am very obese and bad at school. I think, my weight gain and my degrading grades come from the same origin. I have become very lazy also. Is it some illness? Please help me. Am I a troubled teen?

Dear John, you need not worry about this thing. First of all consult a good doctor. The only thing that I can suggest to you is that you need to adopt a very positive attitude. I think you are so tensed about health that is affecting your studies as well. Take a good diet. Don’t eat fast food, fatty food. You need to take a balance diet. Most importantly stay happy and be sporty.

Yes it is a kind of illness. Obesity in itself is harmful for health. This is a particular kind of health problem which give rise to other health problems like respiratory problem, arthritis, heart problems. You told that your performance in school is also not good. Well this can be due to lack of confidence or may be you feel inferior in front of group of people which is diverting your attention from studies.

Don’t worry John, Just cheer up and please don’t feel that this is an illness. Just keep a routine check on what you eat and how much you eat. You are in school right now. Take active participation in sports and other events. Just be positive. You just have to be bit active. You have to indulge yourself in some physical activity or other. That will definitely improve your efficiency and you will also loose your extra flab.

John, obesity is a state of illness which gives rise to other health problems. This has become a major health problem among the masses around the world. Less physical activity and more food consumption give birth to obesity. A person’s weight should be proportionate to his/ her height and age. But don’t worry , all you need is to discuss your problem with a good doctor and take your daily meal as prescribed by him and stay happy.
