Glen Iris is a leafy inner eastern suburb. The area is surrounded by parklands and a walking/cycling track to the city. Gardiners Creek is situated within the parklands.
This 18-hole public course was born out of another layout called The Lakes, however it has been so cleverly modified it bears little resemblance to its predecessor. The result is a seemingly innocuous layout that can be deceptively difficult for those with more brawn than brain. Part of the outward nine has been sculptured around a lake, while the par four 6th tempts the bit hitters from the tee to try to reach the crest of a hill from which their ball can roll all the way down to the green.
