Hornsby is situated in the state New South Wales. It is 26 km far from Sydney. The population of Hornsby is around 17,000. It is situated at 33°70-90 south on latitude and 151°09-01 east on longitude.

It is junction of Northern line and North-shore line. Hornsby is easily accessed via the Pacific highway to the south and the F3 Freeway from the north.

Hornsby is characterized by its lush bushland setting. The suburb is adjacent to the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park and borders the Berowra Valley Regional Park.

Hawkesbury River and its tributaries are less than 20 minutes north of it, with the famous northern beaches, the Central Coast chain of surf and resort villages.

In the residential area there are low and medium density houses. However in the last few years a number of high-rise apartments were being built at the south-eastern side of Hornsby towards Waitara, completely transforming Hornsby skyline. There are many industries in the northern western side of Hornsby.

The railway station of Hornsby is very busy. It is located on junction of Northern line and North-shore line. Hornsby railway station provides frequent railway services to the central business district via Strathfield or North Sydney, as well as trains to the Central Coast, Newcastle and even further north. Hornsby has also well road facility.
