Ipswich is situated in state Queensland in Australia. It is located 40 km south-west of Brisbane. It is situated at 27°37-0 south on latitude and 152°46-0 east on longitude. The area of Ipswich is 1,207 square kilometer and population is over 1,37,000.

It was founded in 1827 as a convict settlement, and limekilns here supplied lime for the building of Brisbane. Known until 1842 as Limestone Hills, it was then renamed after the English town of Ipswich. Ipswich is the gateway to the fertile Darling Downs and it is now an outer suburb of Brisbane.

The city has many parks and many reserves which offer many bushwalks and picnicking sanctuaries. For visit the attraction points are art gallery, the workshop rail museum, steam trains wineries, cafes, restaurants cinemas and shopping centers.

Ipswich has a campus of three universities: University of Queensland, Bremer Institute of Tafe and University of Southern Queensland. There are a number of secondary schools and primary schools situated.

Ipswich has preserved many houses and public buildings of the colonial period. Claremount House, the Courthouse in East Street, designed by Charles Tiffin, later the architect of Old Government House, the customs house and Parliament House in Brisbane, the railroad station in Bell Street and St Paul Church built in 1858, when it was considered one of the finest churches in Queensland. The School of Arts was dignified by the addition of a classical-style façade in 1864 and became the Town Hall.

Large shopping complexes and malls are situated here. Large manufacturing industries have also relocated to Ipswich. An Aluminium products factory has recently been built.

Ipswich is home of the Ipswich city football club. In Ipswich football club there is facility of coaching as well as playing. Beside club there are facility of cricket and rugby.
